KINGFISHER PARK BIRDWATCHERS LODGE at Julatten
The Lodge is situated off the Rex Highway between Mossman on the coast and Mt. Molloy at the northern end of the Atherton Tablelands, Queensland. The lodge is in a 5ha wildlife sanctuary providing a wide range of accommodation in a rainforest setting with walking tracks leading to an open grassed orchard and a permanent creek. The creek is home to a pair of Platypus and provides many species of birds with a bathing and drinking area.
The accommodation covers all needs, 2 self-contained two bedroom villas that sleep up to 6; 4 self–contained units that can sleep 3, plus 4 basic bunkhouse rooms for two. Also a camping and caravan area with powered sites and a cook shed. The amenities block includes a laundry and is shared with the bunkhouse accommodation.
Self caterers will need to buy food before arriving, either in Port Douglas or Mareeba. There is a small general store and an excellent bakery in Mt. Molloy. A comprehensive wildlife library plus facilities for downloading emails and uploading photos is available for guests. T-shirts, Bird Call CDs, wildlife and guide books, plus artworks are also available.

A continental style breakfast is included in the tariff for two persons. At Licuala Lodge we have two 'resident' cassowaries, one female approx 11 years old, and a male, approx 8 years old. They visit on a daily basis. The only time that the male is absent for any length of time is when he is sitting on some eggs - a two month period anytime between July and December.
Out wonderful lush tropical gardens attract many types of birds and butterflies, and in the evening the air is bursting with the aroma of scented tropical plants.
